CITIES OF REFUGE
Installation at Salon Am Moritzplatz, created for the collaborative project The Ark, with Tomer Zirkilevich and Anna Mirkin, as part of the LABA Berlin fellowship program, Berlin 2021.
“The installation performance Ark is inspired by Noah’s Arc and the story of the Flood. The work emphasizes repetition and the choices we make out of the options we are given, vs. the choices that are made for us. The repetitive movement of rocks in Heyne’s work forms structures that dissolve back to their original state, a constantly changing composition created by multiple participants […] The performers directed by Zirkilevich in their turn interact with the objects, creating new structures and meanings. The viewer is invited to take their part in this game - repetitive and symbolic, the act of choosing and being chosen, building and taking apart.” [excerpt from exhibition text]
